“I’ve been part of N.A.L. from the get-go. In the very beginning, my family and I started working on machines in my father’s garage. As our growth increased, we were then able to purchase property in Mt. Orab, Ohio. When I first started working, I was so young that I didn’t even know what a CEO was. Even today, I am not very worried about titles. Our company is comprised of a team, not individuals.
“As business grew, each of my brothers, all with different professional backgrounds, moved into the company as positions arose. As we began to have families of our own, our sons started to gravitate towards the company as well. My son, Andy, started to work at the factory as a floor sweep, eventually graduating to line person, machine operator, and (once he obtained his college degree), now his present title of Vice President/General Manager. He is now in his 16th year of affiliation with the company. It’s incredible to look at our team and recognize that we’ve had employees who have been here for more than 40 years. Many people found N.A.L. as a home and worked until retirement age.
“I know I am only one cog in the wheel. N.A.L. Company wouldn’t be what it is today without the solid base and work ethic of people working along side of me. We have a diverse group of individuals with varied thought processes and problem solving approaches. I am very fortunate to have such an amazing team to work with each day. In fact, my favorite part of coming to work each day is seeing the last truck of the day pull out of the factory and knowing it’s a team accomplishment. It is very rewarding to leave for the day knowing every promised deadline was met. At the end of the day, it’s nice to see the loading area empty and ready for the team to tackle the next day.
“On a personal note, I’ve lived in Cincinnati all my life. Married a Cincinnati gal and raised two Cincinnati kids. It has become a pleasant habit to drive 40 miles to work each day. If you calculate it, that’s over 1 million miles in the last 45 years. To some, it may seem strange to spend that much time driving to and from work, but this company is something I’ve invested my whole professional career at improving. I really enjoy the fact that my family built and own this company. Our team’s hands-on approach has enabled us to make huge strides in our success in manufacturing, communication, processing, marketing, and decision-making. I am very excited to see what changes we can make to propel our company towards the future and beyond.”
